Copy of Flight by Rose Dall

This is a painting my husband started for his painting class last year and since he cringes each time he has to open a tube of oil paint I decided to finish this one for him. I love oils and working on this painting helped me learn a new style for painting oils. I still have a little more work to do on his clothes and her veil but overall I am proud of this copy. For me this particular painting holds a deeply spiritual meaning besides the story being depicted of Joseph and Mary fleeing their home with Jesus as a child to find safety in Egypt, to me it tells me to never get too comfortable because something is always bound to happen.

Buddy

Buddy the rabbit done in pencil for a friend. Loved this rabbit when he was alive so it was a pleasure drawing him.

In 2010 I took these at a Catholic church here in town while my husband was shooting his own pics for his final. He ended up using his own but almost used mine instead.

A great horned owl done in pencil for a friend. Loved the detail of the owl's face looking right at me. Pencil is by far my favorite medium to work with.

Detail of the talons, it was lots of fun to draw them.

One of my favorite sculptures that I never photographed before giving it to my dad. This man was an old cowboy so I decided to sculpt him in a choppy way, smooth didn't work for him at all. I wish I had room for him in my house but for now he is staying with my parents.

Sofie, the cat

I came upon this when we moved last month, I had forgotten all about this kitty. A long time ago I had read that artists have a hard drawing cats correctly and have them look good, so I made a little project out of that to see if I could draw cats and have them not only look good but real. I think I have proven that statement I read wrong because this cat looks pretty darn good to me, and to Mariah who will be receiving her tomorrow. This was done in 2003 after I came home from my mission in Brazil and it was just for practice so I really never got around to finishing her.
