College portfolio pieces 1999-2004

These two are not college pieces but some fun watercolor experiments I did. I was surprised that I could do watercolor so I had fun experimenting.

BYU-Hawaii Photo class.

Orange done in cubic way. I liked the way this turned out even if my teacher didn't.
Comic style recipe for Illustration class.
First college art class, just an apple, lemon and a tomatillo.
Detail of John as Marc Antony
Self portrait with John as Marc Antony and myself as Cleopatra. Pencil on illustration board.
Detail of self as Cleopatra.
Black ball project.

This one was hard to photograph with the plastic shrink wrap on it. Another self portrait charcoal lift out of a turning point in our lives.

Detail of John on the wall
Detail of me.
Romeo and Juliet done in oil paints patterned after Edward Hopper. Once again, another self portrait with John.

High School art portfolio

Hedy Lamarr pencil drawing with acrylic for the black frames.

This was a fun assignment, take any picture we wanted and turn it into a black/white study. My teacher liked how I did half her face instead of all of it. Acrylic on paper.

Grape leaf drawing on paper. The darker parts were done after I learned about contrast in college.

Stipple drawing, took forever but was gratifying.

Pencil drawing of a man cleansing himself before he entered a mosque.
Above and below are scratchboards.

Ok so this isn't from High School but 6th grade. I won first out of my class and school for the Academic Awards for this drawing.

This last one I started right after High School, not sure what it is but it's a great analogy for my life at the time. Still haven't finished it.

Watercolor class-age 9

When I was 9 years old my Grandma Watts bought me some watercolors and brushes. I was ecstatic since I knew since I was 8 I was going to be an artist. That summer she enrolled in a watercolor class for kids and here are some of my paintings from it. After that class I realized I hated watercolors and to this day I struggle with them but I am still trying to make a go at it.

I loved this tree, for some reason it spoke to me as a child.

I did this one after the class was over. I remember sitting in my 4th grade class drawing each individual petal for the flowers on the ground.

One I did for my mom since she loves rabbits.
